The Crucified Messiah

"Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself."

Daniel 9:26

The prophet Daniel, as well as other Old Testament prophets, announced the coming of Christ to die for our sins. Christ means Messiah, the anointed one of God. He was "cut off" for our sins. That's a covenant expression that means Christ took the curse of our sins upon Himself at the cross. "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us" (Galatians 3:13).

To be cursed meant to be cut off from the blessings of God, and marked for destruction. Christ took the curse of our sins against the law of God, "that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:14).

God is determined to bless all who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. He "has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3). Those blessings of God come to us by grace through faith in Christ.

Are you a believer in Jesus Christ? Do you believe that He died for your sins, and He is risen from the dead? If so, all of the blessings of God are yours in Christ. Unbelief says, "If there is a God, why would He want to bless me?" Faith says, "In Christ I receive all the blessings God has for me."

God, we receive all of your blessings through the cross of Jesus Christ.
