"Seek the LORD while He may be found,
call upon Him while He is near."Isaiah 55:6
A man was a professing Christian, but he had wandered away from God because of the bitter circumstances in his life. One day he suddenly knew the presence of God. He was aware that God was near. It was an experience hard to explain. Immediately, he called upon the LORD. Thereafter, everyone around him was aware of a change in his life. His wife noticed more than any one. He tried to explain it to her, but she had difficulty in understanding. The reality of it all was his changed life.
The Bible teaches that God is omnipresent. He is everywhere at the same time, yet there are times and places where we are more aware of His presence. By His grace, He reveals His presence to us in a way that we know God is there. When those times come, we respond by seeking Him and calling upon His name. It is then that God chooses to initiate a relationship with us or renew our relationship with Him.
Our lives are changed when we know "He is near." Perhaps, you need an experience like that with God to restore you or refresh your faith. Those experiences cannot be manipulated by us. Quite to the contrary, they are initiated by God. However, it is during the time of worship that we most often discover that "He is near." Real worship is not a program or performance. It's presenting ourselves to God as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2). Whenever those times may come, we are changed because God is near.
God, I want to experience You as near today.
