Drawn to Christ

Jesus said, "No man can come to Me
unless the Father who sent Me draws him . . ."

John 6:44

Gathered with a small group of Christians, a man gave his personal testimony. He said, "I had no interest in becoming a Christian. The young lady I was dating invited me to go to church with her. I only went because I was interested in her. After attending several worship services, I attended one day when the pastor was talking about the love of God in Christ. Something happened in my heart. I really felt drawn to Christ. It wasn't pressure but attraction to His love for me. That night I committed my life to Christ because God's love drew me to Christ."

God forces no one to come to Christ. He does no violence to man's will. He does something far better. He works in us "both to will and do of His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13). It's a love story. God's love pursues us. His love attracts us to Christ. "We love Him because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19). The Holy Spirit makes the love of Christ real to our hearts (Romans 5:5). When two people are in love, it is a mutual relationship. God's love attracts us to a real relationship with Him through Christ. God's love always takes the initiative in our relationship with Him.

If you know God in a loving relationship through Christ, thank God that He drew you. If you know someone who hasn't received Jesus as Lord, pray that the Father will draw that person to Christ. Believers should share their testimony with others as we have opportunity. However, after we have shared the gospel and prayed for those who don't know Christ, we must realize that only the Father can draw them. His love has drawn us to Christ.

Father, we praise You for drawing us to Christ.
