but those things which are revealed belong to us
and our children forever . . ."
Deuteronomy 29:29
Two Christians were talking. One said, "The Bible doesn't tell me everything I would like to know about God and the future." The other one said, "You're right, but the Bible tells us all that we need to know about God to have the forgiveness of our sins and the hope of eternal life in Christ." The Bible teaches "the secret things belong to the LORD our God." However, "those things which are revealed belong to us and our children forever."
God has revealed His will for our lives in the Bible. Most of all, God has revealed Himself that we may know His love, mercy, and grace. The Bible is the menu that we may "taste and see that the LORD is good" (Psalm 34:8). God has revealed Himself to us completely in Jesus Christ. He is the "express image of His person." To know God in a personal relationship, and walk with Him by faith, is the joy of life for all believers.
Her nine year-old son was full of questions about life. Why was his favorite question. She answered his questions in a way that communicated on his age level. However, there were many times when she just simply had to say, "Son, there are some things that you can't understand until you get older. When you're older I will explain them to you." So it is with us as God's children. There are many things of God which we simply cannot understand. The day will come when our faith shall be made sight, and then, we will understand. As we look toward that day, the believer can say, "I shall know just as I also am known" (1 Corinthians 13:12).
Father, we praise You for revealing Yourself to us through Christ our Lord.
