Your Life's Foundation

"Behold I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,
a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation.
Whoever believes will not act hastily."

Isaiah 28:16

Two women worked in the same office. One said to the other, "I have observed your life during these years that we have worked together. I have seen you go through some hard times, but you seem to be confident through the difficult days. How can you do that?" The other woman responded, "I appreciate you saying that, but I can't take the credit. You see, years ago I found a faith in God that has been my foundation through some difficult situations. Without that foundation, I would have crumbled and fallen a long time ago."

Isaiah the prophet encouraged God's people to stand upon a sure foundation in God's word. Our verse for today is a prophecy concerning the coming of God's Son who is our foundation for life. Christ is the sure foundation and the precious stone (1 Peter 2:4-5).

No building can stand through the storms of life without a solid foundation. No one can endure the adversities of life without a sure foundation. Faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ is a foundation which will sustain us through the darkest night of the soul.

The foundation of God is for whoever believes. It's not necessarily how much faith we have. It's the foundation of our faith that counts. As we read God's word to us through the Bible, we find faith, hope and love for a life standing on the promises of God. What is your foundation in life?

Father, we place our faith in Your sure word of promise.
