Fear and dread is a common experience in life. When you are afraid, call upon God for his help. It's not God's will for his people to live with tormenting fear. Such fear is never your friend. But, how do you overcome fear? The Bible gives a clear solution to the problem.
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" (Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV). Fear and dread will always seek to discourage you. Refuse to yield to discouragement. Find new strength in the promise of God. Quote the verse out loud. Believe the promise of God, according to his word.

Find God's help when you are afraid. God's word and Spirit can enable you to overcome dread and fear. God delights in speaking to you through the Bible. There are so many promises for you as a believer to be encouraged, that you may overcome all fear.
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love" (1 John 4:18). Ask God to fill you with his love. Fear will quickly depart, because God's love overcomes fear.
God's Spirit is able to deliver you from all fear. The Holy Spirit produces fruit in your life as a believer in Jesus Christ. The number one fruit is love. It comes first because "God is love" (1 John 4:8). The Bible teaches that God's love will overcome fear in your life.
