It's possible to hear songs about God's love, yet not experience His love. You may read about God's love in the Bible and not experience it. You may even have a mental acceptance of God's love without really knowing His love. So, where can we experience God's love?
God's love is experienced at the cross. There in great suffering and pain, Jesus died for sinners. Christ crucified is God's love to a sin cursed world. But, the one who believes not, says, "I can't see any love in a man suffering on a cross." To the contrary, the believer says, "The Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).
Experience God's love through the Spirit of Christ. He alone can make the love of God real to your heart. "The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us" (Romans 5:5). God's love must be given to you. There is no way to earn God's love. It comes only as a gift to your heart.
Experience God's love in your heart. Depend upon the Holy Spirit to do in you what you can never do for yourself. Focus upon God's love for you in Christ crucified. Love will come to you as God's gift through the Holy Spirit. Experience God's love in Christ at the cross.
