The Bondage of Fear

Fear is a cruel master. Fear seeks to take control of our thoughts to bring us captive. Fear is no respecter of persons, seeking to bind any and all. Is there a fear that tries to control your life? The fears in this life are many, but there is one which dominates all others. It's the fear of death.

The fear of death enslaves multitudes, robbing them of the joy of life. Fear of death is determined to make cowards of all under its power. The fear of death brings people into bondage. It's most often a silent and secret bondage. No one likes to talk about it. Many pretend like it doesn't bother them. Yet, its power is a cruel reality.

How can anyone break free from the bondage of the fear of death? There's good news! Jesus Christ is the bondage breaker. He sets the prisoners free. Christ came to "release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage" (Hebrews 2:15). The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead broke the power of death. His empty tomb is the believer's victory over the fear of death.

The Spirit of Christ within every believer brings the victory of Jesus our Lord over the fear of death. The love of Christ breaks the power of fear, even the fear of death. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). God sent Jesus Christ to be your bondage breaker.
