Your Words

Some say talk is cheap. That's wrong according to Jesus. He said, "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned" (Matthew 12:37). Your words have a greater impact on your life than you may think. That includes your relationship with God. Listen to your words. They are important.

Your words tell what's in your heart. If you listen to a person long enough, he will tell you what's in his heart. Jesus said, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things" (Matthew 12:35). Your words tell people what's in your heart.

Only God can change your heart. Your words warn you when you need a change of heart. Trust God to do just that. Call upon Him to change your heart. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10). Your words will reflect a renewed heart and a right spirit, that is a spirit right with God.

When your heart is changed, you are justified before God. Your faith in the Lord changes your words. "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:10). Believe the truth and speak the truth. Your words make a difference.
