A man was depressed. He was without a job, facing a financial crisis. He had asked without seeing any visible results to his prayer. A friend with the same problem, said to him, "We need to thank God for what He has done for us in the past, but we also need to thank God by faith for what He will do for us." That friend understood faith. "For we walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Faith gives thanks to God. Doubt says, "God has helped me in the past. Maybe He will help me now." Unbelief says, "If there is a God, why should He help me?" Faith says, "I will thank God for what He will do." Faith gives thanks to God for His faithfulness. Faith always believes God to provide.
Thank God for what you have. Everything you have is a gift of God. That includes every heart beat and every breath of air. Gratitude is a virtue. Complaining will not help. Thank God for what He has done for you. "Oh, give thanks to the LORD for He is good" (Psalm 106:1). Faith always believes that God is good.
Faith thanks God for the good things He will do in your life. Praise God for His goodness. Trust the faithfulness of God. Faith depends upon God's mercy. Faith believes God is always good. Exercise your faith as you thank God. "For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations" (Psalm 100:5).
