When Anger Controls You

"And don't sin by letting anger gain control over you"(Ephesians 4:26, NLT). When feelings of anger come to you, stop and think. When anger takes control of you, it's easy to say or do things that you will later regret. Saying words that you should not, can bring serious damage to important relationships. "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander"(Ephesians 4:31, NLT).

Anger has opportunity to control you when someone hurts you. Then you become vulnerable to angry thoughts and emotions. Unresolved anger leads to bitterness. It poisons your mind and endangers your health. Choose to forgive, and "forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you" (Ephesians 4:32, NLT). Anger is defeated in the face of forgiveness.

Ask our heavenly Father to forgive all those who have offended and hurt you. Choose to follow the example of Jesus. Forgive them, as Christ has forgiven you. Sometime it may be hard to forgive, but it is much harder to live with bitterness.

Get rid of all bitterness and anger toward people who have hurt you. Ask the Lord to give you grace to forgive. Also, ask the Lord to heal your painful memories. Replace bitterness with God's love to fill your heart.
