Peace with God

The man was a hospice patient. He didn't have many days to live. He assured his family that it would be okay. He said, "I've made my peace with God." They knew what he meant. He was ready to die, because he knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Can you say that you have made peace with God?

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1). Peace with God comes through a personal relationship with Christ. That relationship is found by faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. Only Jesus died for our sins. Only Jesus was raised from the dead to give us eternal life. Only Jesus can give you peace with God. That's because Christ is our peace.

All who have peace with God in Christ are justified. That is a legal term. In the courtroom it means to be declared innocent. As sinners, we can never claim to be innocent outside of Christ. By trusting Jesus Christ, our sins are removed through His death at the cross. Much more than that, we receive the righteousness of God in Christ. His righteousness is accounted to us by faith.

Only in Christ can guilty sinners be made righteous before God. At the cross, He suffered death for our sins that "we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). That is amazing grace, which brings peace with God in Christ.
