Enjoy God

"Rejoice in the Lord always.
Again, I say, rejoice!"

Philippians 4:4

That Sunday morning, the minister's sermon was Enjoy God. As the couple were driving away after the service, she said, "You know, I have never thought about enjoying God. That's a new idea to me. I like it." Her husband responded, "It's a new idea to me also, and I really like it. Why would God not want us to enjoy Him? We enjoy our children and grandchildren. We want them to enjoy us."

The apostle Paul put it this way: "Rejoice in the Lord always." He repeated himself with a strong emphasis: "Again, I say rejoice!" To rejoice in the Lord is to enjoy Him. And, He wants us to enjoy Him forever. That speaks of our wonderful relationship with Him. We enjoy Him as our all in all. The difficult times in life must be endured, but through it all, God wants us to enjoy His presence and power in our lives.

Do you enjoy God? Unfortunately, some people only see God like a police officer, watching and waiting for us to do wrong so He can catch us. He certainly knows when we do wrong, but He watches us like the Father that He is. When He sees us doing wrong, He corrects us in love and mercy for our benefit. Father God wants us to love Him and enjoy Him always. Enjoy God today.

Prayer: Father, we love You and want to enjoy You always, through the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
