Grace for You

"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen."

 Philippians 4:23

A woman was teaching a group of children during Vacation Bible School. She was talking to them about grace. She asked the question, "What is grace?" Then, she answered the question by saying, "Every letter in grace stands for a word: G-R-A-C-E. She said it means God's riches at Christ expense." One boy raised his hand to say, "I still don't understand." She said, "Okay, let me put it another way. God's grace is God's gift, and it comes to us through Christ." The boy smiled and said, "I understand now."

Many people don't understand that all we have is the gift of God. What do we have that we have not received? Life itself is given by God. Eternal life is the gift of God through Christ. That's grace. The rain that falls to the ground gives us fruitful seasons that we may eat. That's God's grace or gift to all mankind. Everything we have in this life, and all that we hope for in the life to come, is through the grace of God in Christ. That is to say, it is the gift of God. We simply receive what God gives us.

The grace of God in Christ is sure to all who believe. Our verse for today ends with the word Amen. That is a covenant word which means true, or sure and certain. God's grace to us is true and sure to all who believe. Jesus Christ is the surety of all the covenant promises. Through His death and resurrection, we can be sure that God will give us all that He has promised through Christ. Faith simply receives the grace of God in Jesus name. It's God's gift for us to receive. Believe and receive. It's God's grace for you.

Prayer: Father, We thank You now, and forever, for the wonderful grace of Jesus Christ. Amen.
