"For I know the thoughts that I have toward you,
says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,
to give you a future and a hope."
Jeremiah 29:11
A ten year-old boy said to his dad, "I think about God everyday. Do you think that He ever thinks about us?" His dad was surprised, but happy to say, "Son, it's wonderful that you think about God everyday. You can be sure that He thinks about you. He thought about you before you were born. He thinks about your future. According to the Bible, He has good thoughts about all of His children, and that certainly includes you."
God's people had rebelled against Him. They were led away into captivity, but God had thoughts about their future. Jeremiah prophesied that the Lord had good thoughts about them. That included thoughts of peace and hope. He had plans for them. Those plans were good and not evil. They had no one to blame but themselves for their sins, but God's goodness was their hope for the future.
God has good thoughts for all of His children. Not everything that happens to us is good, but through it all, God is working all things together for good to those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
You can believe that God is thinking about you. He will never forget you nor forsake you. He has a future for you, and it's good. As a believer in Jesus Christ, He has a divine purpose for your life. Every disappointment and trial in your life will work together for your good. God is using it all to conform you to the likeness of His Son Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29-30). His thoughts about you are recorded in the Bible. They will bring you peace and hope.
Prayer: Father, Your thoughts about us for peace and hope strengthen our faith, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
