"Therefore be not unwise, but understand
what the will of the Lord is."
Ephesians 5:17
Two architects were working on the plans to construct an office building. One said, "You know when we consider every detail about this plan for the building, I sometime wonder if God has a detailed plan for our lives." The other man said, "I wouldn't doubt that at all, but I'm sure we make mistakes as we try to build our lives on His plans." His friend said, "You know our job as architects is to make sure the contractor follows these plans. We may even make him correct his mistakes. I believe God, as the great architect, can correct our mistakes and fulfill His plans for us."
God does have plans for our lives. They are revealed in the Bible. Certainly, we often make mistakes in our lives, but His grace overshadows us when we miss His plan. The Bible provides words of correction, and the Holy Spirit works in us to know and do God's good will. He guides us into all truth that we may understand the Lord's will. The Word of God is the will of God. God gives us commands and instruction through the Bible.
Do you know the Lord's will for your life? God's revealed will for you is recorded in the Bible. He may not tell us all we want to know, but He certainly informs us of all we need to know to live a life pleasing to Him. Don't worry about what you don't know concerning God's will. Focus on what you do know. When we are "doers of the word," we are doing God's will for our lives (James 1:22). When we read God's will for us in the Bible, we are "complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:17). Read the Bible to understand God's will.
Prayer: Father, as we read the Bible, may the Holy Spirit guide us into all truth to know Your will for our lives, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
