God Promised

"He who promised is faithful."

Hebrews 10:23

It was time for an election in that rural county. Local candidates were shaking hands and making promises. Two men were talking about the candidates. One said, "I remember when a candidate makes a promise. If he's elected and fails to keep his promises, I never vote for him again." The other one said, "You may not have anyone to vote for this time. I've heard a lot of promises, but they seem to be forgotten after election day."

God's promises are never forgotten. He is faithful to His word. His word is His bond with all who believe. Our faith is built upon the trustworthy promises of God. The assurance of our salvation is based completely on trusting the promises of God (John 3:16; Romans 10:9, 13). The Bible is filled with His promises. Prayer is successful by simply asking God to do what He has promised. Faithful is He who promised. "God, who cannot lie, promised" (Titus 1:2).

When your faith may seem to be weak, don't focus upon your faith, rather, focus on the sure and certain promises of God. It is not faith in our faith that counts. It's faith in God's word of promise. We can live and die with a strong faith, not because of some spiritual secret, but because we stand on the solid foundation of God's word. God promised.

Prayer: Father, we take Your promises as sure and certain in Christ.
