and opens the door, I will come in to him . . ."
Revelation 3:20
These words were on a church sign: "Prayer is the greatest wireless connection." As I was driving by the church those words captured my attention. I thought, if we can talk to someone far away on a wireless phone, why would we doubt that God hears our prayers? Surely we can believe that God can do more than a cell phone. If we can hear someone far away on a wireless phone, why should we wonder if God can actually speak to our hearts?
Jesus talked about anyone hearing His voice. Yes, He has a message for everyone. The question is: How do we hear His voice? The Bible answers that question clearly. We hear His voice with our hearts (Hebrews 3:15). The heart is defined as our mind, will and emotions. It's the inner man.
How does the voice of Jesus come to us? He certainly speaks through creation and conscience. Yet, the clearest way He speaks to all of us is through the Scripture. The Holy Spirit uses the words of the Bible to speak the message of Christ to us. His voice is for anyone who will hear.
When we hear the voice of Jesus, we may respond. We open the door of our lives to Him. He will come in. Open the door of your life to Jesus. The Spirit of Christ will come in (Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:9). Hear His voice.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we open the door of our lives to You.
