Words Feed Others

"The lips of the righteous feed others . . ."

Proverbs 10:21

A teenage girl said to her father, "Dad, I love to hear you talk. When you speak to me, your words give me confidence and assurance. I know everything is going to be okay." He said, "Honey, I'm so glad you told me. I had no idea how important my words are to you."

The words of others can inspire us and encourage us. Words are so powerful, especially from someone we respect. The words of others can likewise discourage and defeat us. Parents, husbands, wives, teachers and pastors should take note that their words make an impact on others.

"The lips of the righteous feed others." Who are the righteous? It's not the self-righteous, but those who are made righteous by faith in God. Abraham was such a person. "And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness" (Genesis 15:6). Those who are right with God are used to feed others with their words. Their words encourage faith, hope and love. Their words are like food which gives strength to others.

God wants to use you to edify and encourage others. Your words have the power to feed others. Let God use you to strengthen faith, inspire hope, and bring love to others. Your words feed others.

Prayer: LORD, may the words of my mouth feed others, in Jesus name. Amen.
