The Foundation of Life

"For I am the LORD, I do not change."

Malachi 3:6

We live in a world where everything is constantly changing. The weather can change suddenly and unexpectedly. The stock market could crash without the experts knowing it. Our bodies are constantly changing. A healthy person could become deathly ill in a short time. Styles for clothes, cars, and houses change often. Someone has said, "The only sure thing in life is change."

In a constantly changing world, we need an unchanging foundation upon which to build our lives. That can only be God Himself. The Bible teaches that He changes not. His nature and attributes change not. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His everlasting covenant never changes (Hebrews 13:20-21). His Son is forever the same (Hebrews 13:8). Our faith in God is based upon the truth that He changes not. His Word is forever settled in heaven, because He changes not.

The primary purpose the Bible was written is that we may know God and His Son. Since the days  the Bible was written, culture has changed remarkably. However, the God of the Bible changes not. God is love and shall be forever. God is life eternal. His character and attributes will never change. His word of promise is forever true. Therefore, we can base our faith, salvation, hope, assurance, prayers and worship upon the One who changes not. He is the foundation of life, the only One.

Prayer: Father, we worship You as the God who changes not, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
