What Happens Tomorrow

"You do not know what will happen tomorrow."

James 4:14

In a science-fiction movie that was shown many years ago, a man had the ability to read tomorrow's newspaper today. He knew who would die tomorrow. He knew what the stock market would do tomorrow. He read today who would face tragedy and trouble tomorrow. He tried to use such knowledge to help others. When he tried to change events or prevent certain deaths, people would not believe him. Finally, he read today about his own death tomorrow. His ability to know about tomorrow was not a blessing.

The Bible makes it clear: "You do not know what will happen tomorrow." Only God knows about tomorrow. He knows about all of our tomorrows. We really don't need to know. We simply need to trust the one who does know. Worries about tomorrow only hinder us from enjoying today. Let us rejoice and be glad today, knowing that this is the day the Lord has made.

Life is about trusting God with all of our days. The psalmist wrote: "And in your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there was none of them" (Psalm 139:16). God has plans for the days of our lives. Let us trust Him one day at a time. Enjoy today. Trust God with all of your tomorrows.

Prayer: God, help me this day to use it for Your glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
