See God's Glory

"The heavens declare the glory of God."

Psalm 19:1

The couple were looking at their photos from a vacation trip to the beach. One photo showed the colors of a sunset with waves coming to shore. She said to her husband, "Look, do you see what I see?" He said, "Well, I see the beautiful colors of the sunset and the ocean with the waves." She replied, "I see the glory of God. He made it all. He's so wonderful to make it all for us to enjoy." Her husband said, "You're right. I was only thinking of colors and a nice place to be. We all need to remember it's about the glory of God."

The created order declares to all people everywhere that the Creator is great and powerful. His glory is seen in what He has made. Yet, many see the nature of creation and are blind to the glory of God. Sin causes us to fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Such a vast and great creation should assure all that there is a wonderful Creator. Yet, outside of God's grace, our minds are blind to the glory of God.

We see God's glory fully in the person of Jesus Christ. "We beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14). His birth, life, death and resurrection brought glory to God that all may see. Unbelief can never see the glory of God in creation nor in Christ. Spiritual blindness is unable to see God's kingdom, power or glory. Faith sees God's glory in all of creation and in Christ our Lord.

Prayer: Open our eyes Lord, that we may see Your glory.
