Your Helper

"But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me."

John 15:26

A teenage boy readily admitted to his father, "Dad, I can't live the Christian life. It seems like I so often say and do the wrong thing." His father wasn't surprised. He said to his son, "You have just made the greatest discovery that any Christian could make. None of us can live the Christian life without the Helper, the Holy Spirit." His father went on to explain to him how the Holy Spirit lives in every believer to guide us according to the truth of Jesus. He assured his son that all believers fail from time to time, but God never intended that we try to live the Christian life without the Holy Spirit.

God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Father loves us and chose to adopt every believer into His family. The Son was sent into this world to pay the price for our sins at the cross. The Father accepted His sacrifice and proved it to the world through the resurrection of Christ. The Son prayed to the Father to send the Holy Spirit to live in the lives of all believers (Romans 8:9). The Holy Spirit testifies to us of Christ through the Holy Scripture. He leads us in the truth of Christ. He is with us always to help us live for Christ. Without His help, no one can live the Christian life.

Have you failed in your walk with Christ? You're not alone. We read in the Bible of people like Peter, Thomas, Timothy and Mark, who failed in one way or another. Yet, they didn't give-up. They got up and went on with our Lord. Through their defeats, they became victorious. The reason was the same in all of them. The Holy Spirit was their Helper. As a believer in Christ, the Holy Spirit is your Helper as well. The Helper has come.

Prayer: Father, we believe the good news of Jesus Christ. We receive the Helper in Jesus name. Amen.
