Trust God's Faithfulness

"God is faithful."

2 Corinthians 1:18

Trusting God's faithfulness is like trusting the sunrise of a new day. Surely, no one goes to bed at night worried about the sunrise tomorrow. We just expect it to happen. We may not live to see the sunrise of another day, but whether we live or die, the new day will come. Likewise, it is with the faithfulness of God, and even more so. When time shall be no more, God is forever faithful.

God is faithful to us in all His ways. He is dependable and trustworthy. This applies especially in the life of a believer living by faith in God's word. He is faithful to His word to perform it. God's word in the Bible is based upon His everlasting covenant. Throughout human history, covenants have been ratified by oaths. God has sworn with an oath His word to perform. Walking with God is living by faith in His faithful word of promise. Any tall building must be built upon a strong and deep foundation. The foundation for our faith is the covenant promises of God. We can stand upon His promises based upon the faithfulness of God.

And when we come to the sunset of life, we either trust the faithfulness of God, or we face the fear of the unknown. Can we depend upon the faithfulness of God in the face of death? Our faith is not based upon our faithfulness as much as it is the faithfulness of God. His faithful covenant promise is everlasting life (John 3:16). Then, if we can trust God at death's door, surely we can know the joy of trusting God's faithfulness through all the days of life.
Father, we trust Your faithfulness in life and in death. You are the faithful God of covenant promise, through the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
