The Key to Everything

"And remember the words of the Lord Jesus,
that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Acts 20:35

A minister once said that he took a $100 bill with him all the time. When he saw someone that was in need, he gave them $100. He testified that someone else would soon give him $100. It never failed. He received to give again. He was blessed to receive, but the greater blessing came in giving. There is a cycle of giving and receiving in the kingdom of God. It's like a farmer planting seed in the soil. It brings forth fruit and more seed. Should the farmer hoard his seed and not plant, there is no way that it can bear fruit.

A preacher gave a sermon entitled "Everything Was Made to Give." He illustrated saying, "The sun was made to give light. Trees were made to give shade and fruit. Air was made to give life. Man was made to give glory to God."  Then, he concluded his message by saying, "If you are not giving, you are not living."

Another minister wrote a book entitled The Key to Everything. His book described man's key role in life is to give. God is our greatest example: "For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son."    Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

To enter a personal relationship with God is about receiving and giving. We receive the gift of His love through His Son. We give Him our lives. That's a covenant relationship. It's like marriage, when two people give themselves to each other. All of life is about giving. Giving is the key to everything.

Father, make us a blessing as we give to others in Jesus name. Amen.
