Your Place in Life

"For behold,  I am bringing forth
My Servant the BRANCH."

Zechariah 3:8

We went to eat at a restaurant. After being seated, a young man came to our table and said, "Good evening. I am your servant for tonight." After which, he handed us a menu and served our table. That's the first time we had a waiter to refer to himself as our servant. At first, it sounded strange to my ears, but then I thought as a Christian, I am God's servant to others. The Christian life is a life of service to God and others.

The prophet Zechariah announced the coming of the Messiah. He was referred to as the BRANCH. His genealogy was from the tree of descendants that included Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David. Quite impressive to the Jewish people. God refers to Him as My Servant. He was indeed. He modeled servant leadership in all that He did. He washed the disciples feet. To do so was to take the lowest role of the culture in His day. He humbled Himself to the very lowest job in His society. He is the example for all who follow Him.

Are you looking for your place in life? Do you want to know your destiny on earth as a disciple of Christ? Then, you have found it in the example of Christ. Jesus said, "He who is the greatest among you shall be your servant." He should know. He was the greatest among us, and He became our servant. You are in the place where God has put you to be a servant. There is no secret mystery about it. Jesus revealed it and modeled it. Becoming a servant is God's place for us in life.
Lord Jesus, make us servants that we may follow Your example. May we be Your servants where we live and work. Amen.
