"Present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead,
and your members as instruments of righteousness to God."
and your members as instruments of righteousness to God."
Romans 6:13
A pen is useless until someone's hand embraces it to write. It is so important when a physician uses it to write a prescription for medicine that may bring healing. It becomes important when an author embraces it to write a book that influences untold numbers of people. It's certainly important when a student takes it to write classroom notes, preparing for an exam which leads to a vocation of service. The pen within itself is not important until the hand uses it. Our lives are meaningless until the hand of God embraces us to do His will.
We are to present our bodies to God as instruments of righteousness. He made us for a purpose, but we will be frustrated and defeated, until we present ourselves to Him. Just how do we do this? That's what worship is all about. We are to "present our bodies to God as a living sacrifice, which is our reasonable service" (Romans 12:1-2). As we present ourselves to God in worship service, we will know the will of God for our lives. It's not to be conformed to this world, but to find our reasonable service in His hand.
I will never forget the words of a senior adult who said, "I know God has me here for a purpose. I just wish that I knew what it is." I have thought about those words many times over the years. It is possible for a person to live a long life without really knowing God's purpose for living. Life without purpose is wasted years. God has a purpose for every life.
Father, we present our lives to You. Use us for Your glory through Christ.
