"And the Scripture cannot be broken."
John 10:35
Jesus asserted that that the Scripture cannot be broken. The Bible is based on the covenants of God. Covenants are made in swearing by an oath. Have you ever heard anyone say, "I swear. I'm telling the truth." That statement of swearing comes from an ancient practice of confirming a covenant with an oath. All of the promises of God are based on covenants made with believers.
Our relationship with God is based on the everlasting covenant (Hebrews 13:20-21). God simply will not break His word. He cannot, because He cannot lie (Titus 1:2).
Marriage is a covenant based on vows made between a bride and groom. Those words of an oath become the basis of their union. The two become one in covenant, with God as the witness. Those words may be broken, leading to a divorce. To the contrary, our LORD is faithful to His people, and His word cannot be broken.
Everything about our faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ is based upon the covenant word. Therefore, we can be sure of our salvation based on the promise of God. We can be sure of answered prayer, based upon the covenant promises. We can rest assured that God will never leave us nor forsake us. God has promised, and our surety is Christ. His death and resurrection is proof for all that God keeps His word. Scripture cannot be broken.
God, we receive Your covenant promises in Jesus name.
