Share Your Testimony

"But you shall receive power
when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;
and you shall be witnesses unto Me."

Acts 1:8

The risen Christ spoke to His disciples about being witnesses unto Him. They were common every day people, but Jesus had done some wonderful things in their lives. They witnessed His miracles and His ministry. They were simply asked to witness what they knew about Christ. He promised that they would be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our New Testament is the written witness of the disciples to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I have only been called upon once to be a witness in court. Years ago I witnessed an automobile accident. I was the only eye witness. My words decided the case. The word witness is a legal term. In New Testament days, at least two witnesses were required to prove a case. The Holy Spirit is a witness to the truth of Christ and the message of the Scripture. He affirmed the witness of the early disciples.

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you too are a witness. You can tell what the living Lord has done in your life. The Holy Spirit will use you to share your testimony. Ask the Lord to give you opportunities to share your own story of faith in Christ.

As a teenage boy, I was greatly impressed by the witness of Bobby Richardson, who played for the New York Yankees. He gave his testimony for Christ at a televised Billy Graham Crusade. I respected him, and I still remember his testimony after all these years. There are people who respect you. They will listen to what God has done in your life. You are a witness.

God, give us opportunities to share our testimony.
