"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,
for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes,
for the Jew first and also for the Greek."
Romans 1:16
After a terrible storm hit a certain part of our nation, they were showing scenes of the devastation on television. Power lines were down, and people were without electricity. One scene showed a service station. A sign was posted with these words, "We Have Gas - No Power." They had the fuel people needed for their cars, but no power to pump it into the cars. They needed power, but so do we. They needed the power of electricity, but all people everywhere need the power of God.
What is the power of God? It comes to us through the good news of Christ. It's the love of God for us through the death of Christ for our sins. It is about the power of His resurrection. It is the power of God's love, coming to our lives through the Spirit of Christ.
The good news is that "God so loved the world . . ." The sad news is that many have not received His wonderful love. Some have never heard, and others find it hard to believe.

Years ago, I heard a choir singing a Christmas musical entitled, "Love Transcending." It included these words, "Love transcending, love unending, it was love and wondrous love that brought the Savior down." That is God's unconditional love for us. It came down from heaven in the person of Christ. It's wondrous love unending.
We can receive the power of God's love through believing the good news of Christ. Someone has said, "We were all made to love and be loved." How true. God made us to love and be loved. That's the power of God received.
God, fill us with the power of Your love through Jesus Christ.
