"Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin?
And not one of them falls to the ground
apart from your Father's will."
Matthew 10:29
Many volumes have been written on the will of God. Yet, we can classify all things within two categories of God's will. One is God's revealed will. These are the things written in the Bible and given through His commandments. They are written for all to know and understand. The other side of God's will is not revealed. This may be referred to as His secret will or hidden counsel. It's all summarized in one verse of Scripture. "The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may do all the words of His law" (Deuteronomy 29:29).
When a sparrow falls to the ground, it happens suddenly and unexpectedly, but Jesus taught that "not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will." God rules over all. His will is all inclusive. Chance is a myth. God's will is reality.
We see God's will often as we look back on the events of our past with more understanding. Yet, we only see parts of the puzzle called life. We see how some events fit together, but God sees the puzzle with each piece fitting into just the right place. He is working according to a plan, and He has an eternal purpose.
Sometime life is like a thousand pieces of the puzzle with nothing fitting together. We may become confused and bewildered. Don't give up. Your heavenly Father is bringing purpose and meaning into your life as He fits each piece together. We may trust Him when we understand and when we don't. His purpose for those who love Him works together for good (Romans 8:28).
God, grant us faith to walk in Your will.
