"He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him . . ."
Psalm 22:8
The young man sat down with his pastor and candidly admitted, "I trusted God to provide a way for me to get through college. My finances are gone, and I feel like God let me down." The pastor said, "I understand your disappointment, but God didn't let you down. He's got another plan for your life. God wants us to trust Him regardless."
The pastor helped the young man to get a scholarship and a job to go to another college. At that school, he met the young lady who became the love of his life. A couple of years later, he came back to the pastor with his fiance to talk about marriage. He said to the pastor, "God really didn't let me down. He changed the direction of my life to find the woman I love. I have learned to trust God regardless."

Psalm 22 prophetically describes the crucifixion of Christ. The words, "He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue him", were spoken by the scoffers who watched Jesus die. Jesus knew to trust the Father regardless of what people said. God the Father did not rescue His Son from dying on the cross. He rescued Him from death at what became an empty tomb. Jesus is the pioneer of our faith, teaching us to trust God regardless.
Have you ever felt like God let you down? It's easy to trust God when all is well. Trust is never an issue when we have everything the way we want it. When crisis and conflict comes, trust becomes a struggle. We don't understand. Why is God letting this happen to me? Questions of doubt attack our faith in God.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). It comes down to one question. Will I trust God regardless?

LORD, we trust You when we understand and when we don't.
