if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.
Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,
he is not His."
Romans 8:9
A six year-old boy asked his mother, "Does God live at the church?" She smiled and said, "No. God lives in heaven, but He wants to live in us." The boy looked puzzled. Then he asked, "Isn't God too big to live in us?" The mother paused to think. Then she said, "God is like the air we breathe. The air is everywhere, but the air is also in us." Her son was satisfied with her answer. Sometime little boys can ask big questions. Mothers are special people who can speak with the wisdom of God.
Jesus said, "God is Spirit" (John 4:24). The word pneuma in the Greek New Testament can be translated air or Spirit. It illustrates how God can be everywhere at the same time. It also helps us understand how God can live in us. In creation God breathed life into man.
Christ came to breathe new life into man, even eternal life. This new life in Christ comes through the Holy Spirit. After Jesus was raised from the dead, He met with His disciples. "He breathed on them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit" (John 20:22).

When anyone receives Christ by faith, the Spirit of God comes to live within him. The apostle Paul asked, "Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" (Galatians 3:2). The apostle made it clear as he continued to write. We receive the Spirit of God by faith in Christ. When we do, God dwells in us.
God, live in us to the praise of Your glory.
