God is Good

"Testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks,
repentance toward God, and faith
toward our Lord Jesus Christ."

Acts 20:21

The pastor said to his congregation, "God is good." They all replied, "All the time." Then, the pastor said, "All the time." The people responded, "God is good." He did the same thing every Sunday with his congregation. He wanted to make sure that his people never forgot that God is good all the time. Not everybody believes that God is good. Some people have wrong thoughts about God. For us to have a personal relationship with God, it may require a change of thought about Him.

The first step for any one to have a real relationship with God requires repentance. To repent is to change our minds. Paul testified to people that they must come to repentance toward God. Until we change our minds about God, there can be no relationship with Him. God leads us to change our minds. "The goodness of God leads us to repentance" (Romans 2:4).

A man said to a Christian counselor, "I hope there is not a God, because if there is, He must be evil to create such a world filled with pain, suffering, and death." The counselor asked him, "Could it be true that you have had pain and suffering in your life, and that your anger blames God for it all?" He responded, "You are exactly right. If God did this to me, I don't want to believe in Him." The counselor said, "That's your choice, but I hope you change your mind. God didn't cause your pain and suffering, but He understands it. His Son experienced suffering, pain, and death at the cross. He's a good God, and He wants good for you."

God, we believe You are good.
