When Your Life Changes

"As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young,
spreading out its wings, taking them up,
carrying them on its wings."

Deuteronomy 32:11

A man said to his pastor, "I wish that I knew what God is doing in my life. I'm going through some difficult days and I don't understand why. I know God is in charge, but I just don't understand." The pastor replied, "I don't understand either. But, I do understand Romans 8:28. You love the Lord, and He is up to something good in your life, according to His purpose. We don't always understand, but we can always trust His goodness."

Life is filled with change and transition. Yes, bad things can happen to you. No one is exempt from bad experiences in life, but remember God is able to bring good out of it. When change comes to your life, you may be out of your comfort zone. Yet, God has a purpose. His purpose is always good.

The eagle prepares a nest for its young ones, feeding them daily and providing for their every need. Then one day the eagle stirs up the nest. The young eagles face an unexpected change in life. Its time for the eagle to take them up on its wings. Suddenly, they are dropped to try their own wings. They must learn to fly. As they fall freely in the air, the eagle soars under them. They fly on eagle wings until they finally learn to use their own wings. Dropped again and again, until they can soar on their own.

There is an important lesson to learn from the eagle. God brings change in your life that you may become stronger in faith. You can grow spiritually through the trials of life. Yet, if you begin to fall, He is always there for you, like the eagle giving support for its young ones. Through times of testing, in the hours of anxiety, you can fly as if on eagle's wings. That image reminds us that when life changes, God is always there for you.
