Find Peace of Mind

People look for peace of mind in all the wrong places. Some would pay a great price for just a short visit of peace to the mind. However, peace is not for sale. It can never be bought. Tragically, others give up on the quest for peace of mind. No matter what they do, peace eludes them.

Peace of mind can be found. It can only be received as a gift from God. He is the God of all peace. His presence is peace that passes all understanding. A true relationship with God focuses our attention upon His presence. The fruit of His presence brings peace. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace" (Galatians 5:22).

Knowing God is knowing peace. We have peace with God through Jesus Christ. That peace is always the gift of God's grace, never earned nor merited. Peace with God comes through surrender of our lives to Him in Christ. Personal surrender to God is not defeat. To the contrary, it's victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. It results in peace. "Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ" (Galatians 1:3).

As a believer, you may temporarily lose your peace of mind. When your mind is crowded with worry, frustration, and stress, God is not the focus of your attention. It's time to refocus. Think upon God's Word as recorded in your Bible. Slowly read and reread verses of Scripture. Think about God. Consider His goodness, grace, and love. Peace will return.
