Be Connected

It was a new large screen television. After being delivered to the house, it was put in a prominent place in the family room. It was expensive. It was the state of the art. However, it will never work until it is connected to the outlet on the wall. So it is in life, we were made to be connected. Real life is being connected to God by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is only one way that we can connect to God, that's through Christ our Lord. He said, "I am the way" (John 14:6). We may consider life to be about our bank statement, or maybe being in a prominent place. So, the television was highly valued and in a prominent place, but it didn't really work until it was connected. Be connected to real life, abundant life, and eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. He said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).

Be connected to God's power through Christ. That is the power of the Holy Spirit. The Christian life cannot be lived in anything less than the power of God. He empowers us to serve Him through the Holy Spirit. God will use us to witness effectively to others through life in the Spirit. Jesus said, "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you" (Acts 1:8).

Be connected to others in Christ. As true believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, we are connected to one another as the body of Christ, known as the church. "Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body" (Ephesians 5:23). We are united under one Lord and one faith. Each of us has a place in the body for service to Christ. We have different gifts and abilities to be used for ministry through the church and in the world.
