Your Safe Place

If a terrible storm is approaching where you live, then you need a safe place. That's a place of security, where you can rest in peace. The storms of life come to everyone, even you. They often come unexpected. The danger is certain. You need a safe place, where you can flee. God is the safe place for all who trust Him. "This I declare of the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I am trusting him" (Psalm 92:2, NLT).

Declare the LORD as your safe place. LORD is his covenant name. He promises to be the place of safety, a refuge for all who trust in him. Covenant is his vow and oath of promise to you, and all who trust in him. That means your safe place is Almighty God. Your safe place is like no other. He alone is more than able to provide security, safety, and a sure refuge. Therefore, you can confess, "He alone is my refuge."

God, as your safe place, means that you are trusting in him. You are trusting his ability and power to watch over and keep you. That does not mean that the storms of life will not come; they will. It does not mean that there will be no times of trial, sorrow and suffering. It does mean that through it all, you turn to him as the one who is with you. And, through it all, you will say, "I am trusting him."

Trusting in God, our covenant LORD, is trusting the promises of his word. The situations of life may change quickly. Yet, God's word of promise changes not. He is always faithful to his covenant promises to perform. So, our God says to all who trust in him, "When they call on me, I will answer. I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them" (Psalm 92:15, NLT).
