Words Matter

Words are like a match. They can start a fire to warm a house or cook a meal. Also, a match can start a fire to destroy houses and land, as well as taking lives. Words are powerful. God hears your words. Your words make a difference. Pray to God, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight" (Psalm 19:14). Your words matter to God.

Your words really do matter. Words can change the direction and destiny of your life. Words spoken by faith from your heart can receive God's salvation in Christ. "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:10). That's when you confess, Jesus is Lord. "And no one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit" (1 Cor. 12:3).

A man said to his friend, "I just say what I think." His friend said, "Well, I hope you have a clean mind, because a lot of dirt could come out of your mouth." Words express what's in your heart. If you listen long enough, a man will tell you what's in his heart.

Your words matter. Your words may strengthen others or discourage them. Your words make a difference in your life and others. Words of parents can encourage children or cause doubt and fear. A husband's words can affirm his wife or cause conflict. What you say makes a difference in your life and in the lives of others.
