Grace to Trust God

Trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5). Do you trust God? He is trustworthy. You cannot have a meaningful relationship with anyone without trust. That includes God. Learning to trust God more and more is the way to spiritual maturity. How is that accomplished? Grace comes from God working in your heart that you may trust Him.

Learning to trust is a basic developmental task in life. A baby must trust another person for every need to be met. The infant cries out to the mother for help. It is the cry of the helpless one. If a person doesn't develop that trust with mother, it affects all the relationships of life, including the relationship with God.

Trust grows over the years from your experiences with God. You trust in the name of the LORD, His covenant name. God makes covenant promises for all who trust in Him. More and more, you discover that each one of those promises recorded in the Bible is trustworthy.

God will allow you to be in circumstances which are trying and difficult. He is not punishing you. He is allowing you to learn to trust Him more. During the ordeal, you may be very uncomfortable and anxious, but as you trust Him, you discover His faithfulness. You find Him trustworthy through it all. If you are in a difficult time today, God says, My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Oh for grace to trust Him more.
