Honor Your Mother

It's God's will for you to honor your mother. It is the command of God. To dishonor father and mother is to disobey God. More than that, it is the first commandment with a promise. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth (Ephesians 6:2-3).

Today is Mother's Day. It is a time set aside to honor our mothers. However, honoring her is for everyday as far as God's will is concerned. When God's Spirit is working in our hearts, we want to honor mother on everyday.

Mother is such a special person. She suffered the pain of birth for us, but she forgot the pain when she held us in the arms of her love. She cared for us when we were helpless infants. She loved us in all our formative years. Her love for us has been our constant support. Our welfare has been her constant concern. There is not another person in our lives like mother.

For many of us, this is a day when we can no longer tell mother that we love her. She is no longer with us, but she is that special person in our lives as long as we live. Memories of her are cherished thoughts. And even though we can no longer tell her how much we love her, we can still thank God for mother. However, if your mother is living, honor her and cherish her as long as you have her.
