Jesus Our Friend

Jesus said, "I have called you friends."

John 15:15

The mother was explaining to her children that their father was taking a new job in another city. Her nine year-old daughter began crying, saying, "Mom, I don't want to move. I don't want to leave my friends." Her mother embraced her and said, "I know you don't. I don't want to leave my friends either, but we have to go. You will make new friends." The little girl continued crying, saying, "But mom, it won't be the same. Nobody can take the place of my friends."

Jesus said to his disciples, "I have called you friends." He came into their lives to teach them and be their Lord. He also came to them as a friend. The Pharisees criticized Jesus, saying, "He's a friend of sinners." Their criticism was really a compliment to the ministry of Jesus. He was a friend of sinners then, and He is the friend of sinners today. As a true friend, He wants a personal relationship with us. He wants to walk with us and talk with us. He proved to be the friend of sinners forever when He died on the cross for us.

Do you know Jesus as your friend? If you really do, He will always be there for you. He promised to be with us always (Matthew 28:20). You can count on His help, love and care. He wants to share His life with you. He cares about every area of your life. Friends always enjoy being together to talk. Jesus has much to say to us. We read His thoughts for us in the Bible. He wants us to have open conversation with Him. We call it prayer. He is Jesus our friend.

Prayer: Jesus, You proved Your friendship for me, when You died for my sins. Thank You for being my friend forever.
