"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him,strengthened in the faith."
Colossians 2:6-7
A woman said to a minister, "I hear people talking about living the Christian life, but I'm not really sure what they mean. Could you tell me?" He said, "I sure can. Living in Christ is living by faith in Him, trusting the living Christ by faith to work in your life from day to day." She said, "I like that. Do you think He would work in my life? I sure would like Him to." The minister replied, "I know He would. He works in the lives of all those who trust Him. As a matter of fact, your desire for Christ to work in your life is a sure sign that He is already at work." Only a few days later, that same woman made a public commitment of her life to Christ.
Living in Christ is living by faith. Our faith or trust is in the living Christ. We have confidence that He continues to work in us day by day. The Spirit of Christ gives us the desire and will to come to Christ by faith (Philippians 2:13). That very faith in Christ is a gift of the Holy Spirit working within us (1 Corinthians 13:13). What He begins to work in us, He continues day by day (Philippians 1:6). The Spirit of Christ gives us faith now to trust Him in every situation of life. He gives us hope for the future. Most of all, the Spirit of Christ fills our lives with love divine (Romans 5:5).
Christ works in us to strengthen our faith. Faith in Christ is rooted in the Word of God. As we read the Bible, and understand more and more about what the Lord is doing in our lives, our faith becomes stronger. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of truth to build up our faith in Christ. Living in Christ is living by faith in Christ, knowing hope for the future, and experiencing love day by day.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, continue to work in us that our faith may be strengthened to trust You more.
