"Casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you."
1 Peter 5:7
I was sitting in a drug store, waiting for a prescription to be filled. A senior adult lady came over and sat down beside me. She was waiting for her prescription. Immediately, she began talking with me about the high cost of medicine. She just really shared her frustration with me. Then, they called her name. She went on her way. She really just needed someone to listen. I thougth, how many people need a listening, sympathetic ear? God wants to listen to you. We call it prayer.
Prayer is talking to God. He wants us to be like the woman in the drug store. Just be transparent about your thoughts and feelings. He cares about you. Don't worry about using academic words. Just use your everyday language. Be honest and open in your conversation with the Lord. You need not be afraid. He cares about you. Talk to him throughout the day. He's with you. More than that, he cares about you.
Are you anxious or worried? Tell him all about it. Oh, by the way, he already knows all about you. He needs no information, but we need to talk with God to unload our cares. He listens as a father. He is you know? The most loving, caring Father, as he listens to every word. A little girl asked her dad, "Why do you like to listen to me talk? You know so much more than me." The father replied, "Honey, I love your every word, because I love you." You have a Father who listens to your every word, because he really does love you.
Father, we really like to talk to you, because you care and love us more than anyone. We want your good will to be done in our lives through Jesus Christ. Amen.
