Receive the Father's Love

"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us,
that we should be called the children of God."

1 John 3:1

Every night before she went to bed the little girl would hug her dad. One night she asked, "Dad, how much do you love me?" He hugged her again, and said, "More than you could ever know." She asked him, "Is it a lot?" Her dad smiled, and repeated, "More than you could ever know." She smiled and went to her room.

How much does God love us? We can know by looking to a cross where Jesus died. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son . . ." (John 3:16). How long will God love us? ". . . neither things present nor things to come . . . shall be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39).

Why does God love us so much? "God is love" (1 John 4:8). God our Father wants us to know how much He loves us. His love can only be known when we experience it in our hearts. ". . . the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us" (Romans 5:5).

Have you ever doubted God's love for you? If we do, the problem is always in our hearts and never with God our Father. His love for us is described in the Bible. His love for us is proven at the cross. His love for us is forever. His love for us is made real in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. In our hearts we personally receive the Father's love.
