Read the news of the day, and you are sure to read of evil in this world. The reports of evil are so common, that they may not grab our attention. Evil is a present reality the world over. No one is exempt from an attack of evil in so many different ways.
The Bible makes it clear that God is good, and always good. So, you ask, "How did we come to so much evil in this world? The answer is clear. God gave man choice. God could stop all evil by simply taking away our choice. However, God's goal is to overcome evil with good. God promises a coming day, when evil shall fail and good shall prevail.
Jesus taught us to pray against evil. We pray to God our Father, "And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one" (Matthew 6:13). He also taught us to pray for that day to come when all evil shall fail. We pray, "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). God's will is good.
God is good all the time. "For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations" (Psalm 100:5). As we see evil all around us, look up. God is forever good. He is good when we make bad choices. God is good enough to have mercy upon us. Ask God for mercy. Praise God for His goodness.
