How You See Jesus

How do you see Jesus? Many people see Jesus only as a famous historical figure who lived many centuries ago. The Bible teaches us to see Him as "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). The Lamb is a symbol from the Old Testament. It speaks of a sacrifice made to save people from death. The sacrifice of Jesus saves us from the wages of sin which is death. His resurrection promises eternal life.

See Jesus taking away your sins. Only faith is able to see that Jesus has taken away your sins. Your faith in Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God is the full assurance that your sins are gone. Someone else died in your place. His sacrifice is sufficient to take away all your sins.

See yourself as right before God because of the Lamb. Religion without the Lamb can never take away your sins. Your works can never be enough to pay for your sins. God has provided the way for all your sins to be forgiven only through the Lamb.

See yourself as loved by God through the Lamb. In the Old Testament, the father of each family offered the sacrifice of a lamb at Passover. Those sacrifices pointed to the Father who would sacrifice His Son as the Lamb for the sin of the world. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son" (John 3:16). How you see Jesus is how you see yourself.
