The Joy of Life

Christ is the joy of life for all who trust in Him. The Spirit of Christ lives in you as a believer. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit within you. "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace" (Galatians 5:22).

Joy in the Lord does not mean that you will not have times of sorrow and sadness. However, your joy is not controlled by outward circumstances. Through it all, your joy is knowing that Christ is with you in every circumstance.

The joy of life in Christ is obvious through fellowship with other believers. The Christian life was never meant to live alone. We are members of the same body, that is the church, the body of Christ. There is joy when we gather together with God's wonderful people.

When a believer sins, we grieve the Holy Spirit. That may result in a temporary loss of joy. God has provided a way to restore our joy in the Lord. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

When you know the Lord, "you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory" (1 Peter 1:8). It's inexpressible, because it's more wonderful than words can describe. It's full of glory, because it's the presence of God in you. He is the joy of life.
